+ Why should I wear my baby in a Baby Bee wrap?

We have designed our Baby Bee Wrap Collection to make it the best tool out there for the newborn stage. Carrying your little one in our Wraps helps them return to the soothing, familiar environment of the womb. It gives you a calm baby and a safe baby. It gives you freedom.

What does this mean for me?

Calming down your baby who has gas or reflux? Check. Getting out of the flat without having to unfold the buggy? Check. Cuddle your baby whilst checking your emails? Check. Sneaking out for your morning smoothie with fellow mamas whilst baby is still asleep? Double Check.

“Sanity saver”. “Love Bombing”. "Hands-free". There are so many reasons why our Baby Wraps are great for newborns. Want to know more about the advantages of wearing your baby in our Baby Wraps? Ask our Babywearing consultant

+ What makes our Baby Bee wraps so unique?

Beautiful, ethical and made in Europe. Every detail of our beautiful Baby Wraps has been designed in London with quality and sustainability in mind. Our unique fabric is made of the softest and most luxurious sustainable knit, produced from the beech wood trees of the Austrian forests, and woven with care in our textile factory in Lithuania. The result is a lighter and stronger knit than any other wrap, which is so comfortable it can be worn by you and baby in the summer and winter alike.

In addition to our Classic London collection, our collaboration collections showcase one talented female textile designer from a different European country every season.

+ How are our baby wrap carriers made?

Our Baby Wrap Carriers are made of 100% sustainable botanical fibres and produced using the latest Lenzing Edelweiss® technology. These are the only man-made fibres which are carbon neutral, consuming less fossil energy than even cotton. The resulting fabric is heavenly soft to your baby’s skin, naturally stretchy and is free of harmful chemicals.

All our Wraps are made in Europe and are OEKO-TEX Class I certified, the strictest human-ecological standard for baby textiles.

+ Wait a minute. What IS a baby wrap?

A baby wrap is a baby carrier for newborns and babies up to 9kg. Our wraps are made of one long (5m) piece of stretchy fabric, which is specifically designed and cut to fit the Classic Snug Hold carry position.

+ How should I care for my baby wrap?

Our wraps are machine washable at 30°C. Due to the fiber’s sleek cross section, our Lenzing botanic fibers are highly durable and stay soft even after repeated washing.

+ Will the Baby Bee Wrap fit into my diaper bag?

Definitely! Our Wraps are made of a lightweight fabric and can easily fold into their little built-in pocket. They fit into any diaper bag and even your favourite everyday crossbody bag. We promise you won’t even notice it’s there.

+ When can I start using my baby wrap?

Our Wraps are designed for newborns and can be used immediately post-birth, as soon as both you and baby are fit and well. Carrying your little one close to you is especially great in the early days, as it helps them return to the womb-like environment they were so recently in, where your heartbeat is clear and soothing to them. Our Wraps are suitable for even small babies from 2.5kg, as they can perfectly adapt to their body and provide custom support for their back and head. Before using our Wraps, we recommend that you seek medical advice if your baby has a low birthweight or any medical condition.

+ Up to what age can I use the baby wrap?

Our Baby Wraps are suitable for babies up to 9 kgs. Most mums and dads get the most from their Wrap during the first 9 months after birth.

+ Can I breastfeed in the baby wrap?

Yes, but not on the move! Our Wrap is a great tool for breastfeeding as it can help you feed baby comfortably and discreetly while sitting down, especially when you are out having that well-deserved morning smoothie. Although plenty of seemingly benign advice can be found online, our certified babywearing consultants advise against breastfeeding whilst walking or standing, as this can be unsafe. Take baby out first, sit down, and give your little one all your attention. Read our full article on How to breastfeeding in a baby sling here

+ What clothes should I wear under the baby wrap? What about baby?

The fabric of our Wraps is incredibly light and breathable and feels similar to wearing an additional t-shirt layer. With that in mind, we suggest that you wear one layer less than you normally would. Ideally, choose a comfortable top made of natural fibres like cotton or wool.

Baby should wear her normal indoor clothes adapted to the temperature at home. Remember that your baby is warmed by your body heat, so don’t overdress her. Ensuring that your baby is not too hot is very important so always check the temperature at the back of her neck and adjust if necessary.

If you are going out in cold weather, the key is to add layers on top of the wrap. Make sure that baby is wearing a hat, and protect their feet and hands. Use a large coat (such as a maternity coat) or add an extension to make extra room for baby. You can also use a large blanket to keep baby warm.

+ Can I use the wrap for my premature baby?

Skin-to-skin or "Kangaroo" care has been widely adopted as best practice for premature babies all over the world and is recommended by the World Health Organisation, the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants, and various charities such as Save the Children and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We suggest talking to your doctor or health practictioner to get more information on Kangaroo Care and whether our Baby Wrap would be suitable for you.

+ How easy is it to learn?

Using a baby wrap can seem a bit daunting at first but keep calm and carry on, we promise that it will become second nature in no time! Most mums and dads feel confident wearing their little one after only one or two practice runs.

Our carrying technique is easy and quick to master. Each of our wrap comes with a detailed instruction booklet, and our video tutorials will show you how it's done!

+ Do I really only need to learn one way to carry baby?

We love simplicity and we know you will too! The Classic Snug Hold is the only position you will ever need. It is the most comfortable position for you and baby and is easy and quick to master for even the most sleep deprived new parents!

+ Can I wear my baby facing forward or on my back?

We don’t recommend it. Our certified babywearing consultants advise against carrying your little one facing forward, as it forces her back straight against your chest and puts too much pressure on her hip joints. Similarly, the natural stretchiness of our Wraps, designed for a perfect front carry, makes it difficult to position baby securely on your back or facing forward, especially as they grow more mobile. Our favourite position is our Classic Snug Hold and it is all you need!

+ Can I carry twins?

No, our wraps are designed to carry only one baby at the time.

+ Are the Baby Bee Wraps safety tested?

Safety and security are very important to us. Our Baby Wraps are designed and tested according to the strictest European and International standards (CEN/TR 16512:2015 / OEKO-TEX Standard 100). These not only guarantee that the fabric and dyes we use are free of harmful chemicals and respectful of the environment, they also ensure that the wrap is safe for prolonged use for even the most wriggly baby.

+ My little one just chewed on the wrap! Is it safe?

Yes! Our Baby Bee wraps have been designed with real (chewy!) babies in mind. Our wraps are made in Europe, free of harmful chemicals and are tested to the strictest European standards.

+ How do I know if my baby is in the right position?

To make sure that your baby is safe and well positioned in the Baby Bee wrap, we recommend going through the UK babywearing T.I.C.K.S. rules:

  • T is for Tight: slings and carriers should be tight enough to hug your baby close to you as this will be most comfortable for you both. Any slack/loose fabric will allow your baby to slump down which can hinder their breathing and pull on your back.
  • I for In view at all times – you should always be able to see your baby’s face by simply glancing down. The fabric of the wrap should not close around them so you have to open it to check on them. In a cradle position your baby should face upwards not be turned in towards your body.
  • C for close enough to kiss – your baby’s head should be as close to your chin as is comfortable. By tipping your head forward you should be able to kiss your baby on the head or forehead.
  • K for Keep chin off the chest – a baby should never be curled so their chin is forced onto their chest as this can restrict their breathing. Ensure there is always a space of at least a finger width under your baby’s chin.
  • S for Supported back – in an upright carry a baby should be held comfortably close to the wearer so their back is supported in its natural position and their tummy and chest are against you. If a sling is too loose they can slump which can partially close their airway. (This can be tested by placing a hand on your baby’s back and pressing gently - they should not uncurl or move closer to you.)

If you’ve checked all of the above, your baby should be in a good position. If you’re still unsure, we recommend checking our video tutorials or alternatively, register for a babywearing workshop. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us on our social media channels where we are always happy to help!

+ Can I wear my baby in a car?

No, babywearing is not safe in a car or taxi as it will not protect baby in a crash. Please use the appropriate car seat for your baby's safety!

+ I’m a complete newbie! Where should I start?

Keep calm and carry on, we promise that it will become second nature in no time! Most mums and dads feel confident wearing their little one in the Baby Bee wrap after only one or two practice runs.

First, grab our instruction manual and watch our video tutorials. Start by practicing the simple Tie Up in front of a mirror, until you feel confident. Make sure that you make it tight enough and comfortable by spreading the fabric right across the shoulders.

Now it’s action time for you and baby. Some mums and dads like to practice will a doll or a teddy bear beforehand, or even a rolled jumper.

When you are ready, try positioning your baby in the Classic Snug Hold. We recommend that you try this when you and your little one are relaxed, and when your partner or a friend is around so they can support you if needs be. Check that baby is well positioned using the T.I.C.K.S. rules, and you’re good to go!

If you’d like some extra help, why not participate in one of our free workshops?

+ It's on but doesn’t feel totally right, help!

If you've checked all the safety T.I.C.K.S. but feel you or baby are still not 100% confortable, we would recommend trying a few things:

  • Make sure that the baby’s weight is above your waist. Baby should sit high and tight against your chest for best support
  • Make sure you spread the fabric on the lumbar area
  • Check that the wrap is tight enough. When you tie up the wrap, the fabric panels should be flat against your chest with no gaping.
  • Make sure that the fabric panels are well spread out and untwisted on your shoulders and across your stomach before your little one goes in.

+ Travelling with your baby?

Easy peasy! The Baby Bee wrap is perfect for those long queues at the airport or the Eurostar. We recommend tying up your wrap under your jacket before you leave home, so you’re ready to put your little one in whenever you need to. Your wrap can remain on you all day if you wish, simply pop your little one in and out as needed between feeding and nappy changes. Just remember to check that the wrap is tight and that your little one is safely positioned every time. We’ve tested this one many times, and hands free, what a bliss! When you’re done, you can simply fold the wrap into its built-in pocket and put it in your handbag.

+ Do you offer gift wrapping?

Yes we do! Our beautiful gift wrapping will make our baby wraps the perfect Baby Gift. Gift wrapping can be selected as a separate item below each product, and will include a handwritten card with your personal message. All our packaging and gift wrapping are eco-friendly and 100% recyclable.

+ Do you offer gift cards?

Yes we do! We offer digital gift cards. They are perfect as a present or babyshower gift if you’re not sure what colour and style is best for the new mum or dad!

+ How do the e-gift cards work?

E-gift cards are very simple to use: purchasing a digital gift card creates a unique code, which is sent by email. The recipient can enter this code at checkout to subtract the gift card value from their order total.

You can choose to send the gift card to yourself (great if you would like to send the gift at a later date), or you can also send it directly to the new mum or dad with a personal message. Gift cards never expire. Please note that gift cards are not refundable.
